The Greenbrier Resort Lunch -Bunker Tour -Lewisburg, WV
Today, you  arrive in White Sulphur Springs, WV in time for a marvelous lunch at the
Greenbrier Resort's Golf Club. Also included with your visit is a most unusual
history tour. You visit The Greenbrier's Cold War Bunker, built by the
Eisenhower Administration. It was a Fall Out Shelter for Congress in the
event of a Nuclear Attack.

This secret facility existed for 30 years, in plain sight, yet hidden from both
hotel employees and guests. It's a fascinating story and you will learn how
the pantries were stocked and replenished with fresh produce and supplies.
At any moment there was enough fresh water and food here to support the
entire House & Senate for 60 days. End the day in Lewisburg, WV for the night
and dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2 September 18th (B,L,D)

Green Bank Radio Astronomy Observatory -Greenbrier Wilderness Train w/lunch
Elkins, WV -Dinner in Timber Baron's Mansion -This morning, head to Green Bank, WVand
find it filled with giant satellite dishes. This is the Green Bank Radio Astronomy Observatory
intentionally located in one of America's most quiet spots. Here our scientists are listening for
sounds from space, and you will tour the facility.

Today, ride the Greenbrier Wilderness Train. This new train ride leaves from Cass, WV on a
four hour excursion into the wilderness of the Greenbrier River Valley. Framed by forested hills on
both sides of the river this remote, rugged, unpopulated region is home to Bald Eagles, Osprey,
Black Bear and Coyotes. You may spot these species and others as you ride round trip between
Cass and Durbin with a lunch onboard the train. Arrive in Elkins, WV late this afternoon for a
three-night stay at a local hotel. Dinner is included this evening at either Graceland or Halliehurst, the
Mansions of the Timber Barons. Both elegant homes were built in 1890's at the height of the timber era.

Day 3 September 19th (B,L,D)

New Tygart Flyer w/lunch -WV Railroad Museum-Gandy Dancer Dinner Theater
Today's wilderness excursion is the New Tygart Flyer, departing from the town of Elkins.
This route features an "S" curve tunnel, a high bridge and miles of unspoiled mountain views.
The vintage diesel-powered locomotive climbs along the cascading Shavers Fork of the Cheat River to the
High Falls which are accessible only by train. The closest road is literally five miles away.
Enjoy the view relaxing aboard our comfortable climate controlled passenger coaches. On return to Elkins,
you find the West Virginia Railroad Museum is located in the historic RailYard by the old railway depot.
Explore the history of one of the most beloved Railways, the C & 0, or Chesapeake and Ohio.
This historic tale begins with President George Washington and ends with
the kitten that captured America's heart, Chessie!

This evening, you enjoy a Premiere Dinner Show at the Gandy Dancer Theater. After a wonderful plated dinner, sit back and listen to the fabulous Mountain Memories Show Band as they serve up a 2 hour Branson-style show with music from the 40's to present day. The show includes country, gospel and patriotic selections along with
family-friendly comedy and amazing dancers.

Day 4 September 20th (B,L,D)

Cass Scenic Railroad w/lunch - Cass Historical Museum & Showcase - Another day of great adventure begins as you motor north into the Alleghenies, your destination is the townsite of Cass, WV. Today, you ride the Cass Scenic Railroad, the same line built in 1901 to haul lumber to the mill in Cass, Once you board the train, the real excitement begins. the great pistons of the carefully resorted Shay locomotive will start pulsing, driven by hundreds of pounds of steam pressure. As the train rounds the curve up Leatherbark Creek, you'll pass the Cass Shop, where the locomotives are serviced. You travel up the mountain toward the two switchbacks, which allow the train to reverse the steep grade. Finally, the view opens to fields and Whittaker Station. You will have a "sack" lunch on the train as you journey up the mountain. You will also have time to visit the Cass Historical Museum located in the Company Store Building, and founded by Kyle J. Neighbors. The museum features items and artifacts of Cass. Visitors can learn more about the trains, community spirit and history of Cass and the surrounding area. The history of Cass and the regions logging industry come alive before your eyes through railroad artifacts, train paintings and antiques.
